Available Dogs
These are a few of the dogs currently available through Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond. Please check our Petfinder site as well. New dogs are often posted there first.
If you are interested in adopting a Lab from us, please submit a completed application. Please allow up to 10 days to hear from us if you mail your application to us. If you submit your application online, or by e-mail, you can expect to hear from us within one week. Please be patient as we are all volunteers. Once we receive your completed application, one of our volunteer adoption coordinators will contact you for an interview and explain our process. If you are approved, the coordinator will work with you to match you with your new family member. Please keep in mind that we make every attempt to find the right home for each individual dog, taking into account their history, behaviors, etc.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. The adoption process requires an approved application, a contract and a non-refundabl`e adoption fee of $250.00 for dogs up to 7 years of age and $200.00 for dogs 8 years old and over. Adoptions are contingent on the successful completion of a home visit either before or following the adoption. If you have questions about our process, please e-mail us or give us a call. Featured Lab
Sasha (#10-002)
Meet Sasha! She is a 9 year old laid back lady who loves other dogs, cats and people! She enjoys roaming the backyard, looking for squirrels and rabbits to chase, though thankfully she has not caught one yet. Though she needs a bit of encouragement to get in the water, once in, she swims like a champ. She loves to lay in the sun, both inside and outside of the house, loves going for car rides and thoroughly enjoys treats! Breakfast and dinner are her favorite times of the day. I am the lady of the house!! I enjoy taking a walk and having my belly rubbed - in fact, I groan to let you know just how much I love it. Sasha qualifies for our seniors for seniors program and if you do too, consider this warm, loving lab as your next companion. I would love to be a part of your family - just give me a chance to wrap you around my paw and submit an application!Zoe (#10-035)
A 3 month old sweet little lady is looking for her furever home. She is cratetrained, up to date on her shots, walks nicely on lead, and LOVES to give kisses. This little girl is good with cats (loves their tails), good with children, and has quite the paws to grow into. She enjoys tennis balls and nyla bones. To be considered for Zoe, please complete an application. (Move your mouse over the picture to see more.)
Riley (#10-034)
This is a 2 year old neutered male. Riley is learning alot from his foster pack about living with girls (dogs). He is a friendly boy who barks at passersby, only to say "I want/need to meet them. They are gonna be my friends!". He says his hellos, and he is right, they are now his friends. Riley knows his commands sit, come, wait, shake, and down. He likes to play chase with his foster sisters, is housetrained, and goes in his crate willingly. To be considered for Riley, please complete an application. Embers (#10-033)
Just look at that face!!! Embers is a 4 year old neutered male who knows sit, down, shake, and loves to go on walks. He has the lab lean perfected, and still thinks he is a lap dog. Good with dogs, cats unknown. Retrieving tennis balls is fun, as is splashing in the kiddie pool on a hot day. Embers is a big boy. To be considered for him, complete an application. Max (#10-029)
This AKC 1 year old boy is a typical sweet, loving lab. He enjoys retrieving his tennis ball and getting belly rubs. Max is cratetrained, good with dogs, but cats unknown. He is a big boy, and can knock down smaller children just due to his size, though he has lived with a 4 year old. Being only a year old, Max enjoys his chew toys, and walks on lead. To be considered for Max, please complete an application.
Rocky (#10-027)
Rocky will be 3 years old this August. He weighs about 95 lbs., is quite affectionate, good with dogs and children. He has not been exposed to cats. Rocky enjoys walks on a "gentle leader", and knows his basic commands of sit, down, come and stay. Being housetrained and cratetrained, he also enjoys playtime in the yard. To be considered for Rocky, please complete an application.
Fred (#10-011)
My name is Fred and I am by far the cutest, most desirable dog you could ever want to adopt. I love people, other dogs, and children, especially when they play with me. My foster mom's 4 year old grandson is my favorite friend - I lick his feet and chase him when he has a toy or stick. I love to take walks and remind my MOM that it is time to go if she takes too long to get ready. I love to run, especially if I see a squirrel, rabbit or lightning bug to chase. I haven't caught a squirrel yet, almost got me a rabbit, but those bugs taste terrible!! I know my commands (sit, stay, lay down, wait, move over) and can be taken off leash and won't wander off. I love to ride in the car. I've learned not to be a counter-surfer (though I don't know why I can't have all that good stuff that gets put there) and enjoy my nightly Milk-Bone as my after-dinner treat. I promise I'll be the best friend you could ever want - please consider making your home my forever home. Complete an application and a volunteer will contact you.
